Current Problems in Engineering Geodesy

On 4-6 April 2019, for the first time we had the opportunity to present ourselves during the Scientific and Technical Conference on Current Problems in Engineering Geodesy. The event was organized by the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology in the European Centre for Geological Education, at the foot of the royal castle in Chęciny.

Apart from traditional surveying methods, the most modern technological achievements in the field of displacement and deformation monitoring of engineering structures took an important place in the discussions. The solutions developed by SHM System engineers were of great interest: fibre optic sensors for geometrically continuous measurements of strain (EpsilonRebar) and displacement (3DSensor), as well as an automatic system for inclinometric measurements Inclify. These tools allow to gain knowledge about the work of the monitored object, unattainable for traditional measurement techniques.

The conference participants could learn about the details of the above solutions and examples of numerous implementations during the SHM System presentation in the plenary session. Moreover, an interdisciplinary team consisting of experts from PW, PK, AGH University of Science and Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology and SHM System presented a paper titled “Strain measurements with geometrically continuous fibre optic sensors DFOS in the assessment of the condition and safety of collectors and pipelines”. On the second day of the conference we also conducted workshops, during which students of Warsaw University of Technology familiarized themselves with the principles of operation of the most modern measurement solutions available on the market.
